Fanatec on PS4 and XboxOne!

A long time coming it would seem, but very exciting news for console owners wanting to use their PC version Clubsport V1 or V2 wheel bases on PS4 and Xbox One. I personally would enjoy using my Fanatec CSW V1 on Xbox One playing Forza Horizon and Forza 5 and now upcoming Forza 6.

Currently the CSW wheels are only compatible to PS3 and PC, but now Fanatec teamed up with Slightly Mad Studios and announced the CSW wheelbase will work with Project Cars on all 3 platforms PC, PS4 and Xbox One. This is awesome news and no better time to introduce this than right before Project Cars gets released. Keep in mind that the CSW Wheel with any CSW rim will work on PS4 and you will not even have to boot the CSW into PS4 mode like you used to do with older Fanatec wheel bases.

Now the Xbox One version will still require an official Xbox One rim that is coming very soon from Fanatec. Looks like I’ll have to buy a Xbox One again to play Forza games later this year along with a Fanatic Xbox One rim. I’ll stick with Project Cars on Steam for now since it’s already pre-ordered. I may pick up the PS4 version to be able to compare the two. Very Exciting news! For us Fanatec owners this is just added value to the wheels we already own!

Here is a list on the Fanatec compatible gear for PS4, XBOX ONE & PC

PC & PLAYSTATION®4

Porsche 911 Turbo S
Porsche 911 GT2
Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2

"Gamers have been enjoying the solid build quality, integrated technology, and pure driving sensation of these fantastic products for a while now on PC and previous-generation platforms but through a continued collaboration with the team at Fanatec players are now going to be able to use the wheels they already own or are thinking of purchasing with Project CARS via an update on day one.”

“The quality of the input devices play an important role in the immersion factor of a simulation
and especially our ClubSport series delivers an automotive quality and experience level. We are now bringing this level to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and Project CARS is the perfect title to make best use of our technology. This combination is a new milestone on gaming consoles.” (Thomas Jackermeier, CEO Endor AG / Fanatec)

Ride / Yamaha DLC 2015 Models

Check out some of Rides DLC 2015 Yamaha models

Fanatec Ebrake On rSeat RS1 Rig

Ok about 6 months ago I got my Fanatec Ebrake and installed it onto my rSeat RS1. Now the ebrake works really well and I've enjoyed it allot on games like Assetto Corsa and The Crew, For $99 it's a really good buy and pretty much plug and play to your PC as long as you use the adaptor

Along the way some people expressed interest on how I mounted it up to my rSeat RS1 rig. Since the RS1 has a slim design and a seats lip hangs over the frames side about 1+ inches the seat lip gets into the way of the ebrake handle once it's mounted up directly to the rig. Below pictures show where I placed my ebrake. I also angled it to where I like it. Just sit in your rig and play around with what angle you like.

Once you got the location down mark the outline of the ebrake box with a wax pencil on your rigs side plate. Then take the ebrake apart per Fanatec install instructions.  Place the ebrake box within your wax markings on your rig and mark the drill pattern holes into the rSeat rig. You can also print off and use Fantec Drilling template upfront to make it allot easier for your markings. I actually only used 2 mounting holes as the rseat has limited space on where you can mount it for ideal location do to the adjustable shifter mount rails that gets in the way on the inside of the frame. Take a look and measure twice before drilling into your rig. Disclaimer.  I , Track Junkie Racing, TJRSim or any affiliate are not responsible for your rig, sim seat, Fanatec products or person(s) by following my suggestions or examples that I used. You break something or get hurt it's on you! As always use appropriate safety gear before working with tools. Ok just had to get that out the way. But really be safe!

Now in my laziness of not first finding a 1"-2" spacer to place the ebrake box properly to allow enough room to clear the seats large lip from the ebrake arm I just mounted it directly to my rig. In doing so my ebrake arm hit the seats lip so I had to adjust the location of the ebrake handle within the ebrake box a little to aloow enough clearance for the handle to move. I don't recommend this so I want go into the details on how. I recommend finding a 1"-2" spacer out of plastic or 2x4 wood cut to size to match the ebrake box. Drills 4 thru holes all the way thru the wood matching the drilling templete. Then just drill the same hole locations into the side of your rSeat frame and mount it all up with some long M6 socket head screws at the new required length you need with some M6 nuts and lock washers to tighten it all up. Make sure to use the washers and nuts on the inside of your rSeat frame with the socket head cap screw head residing inside of the ebrake box.

That's it! Just enjoy your new Fanatec ebrake. I appoligize for leaving out some pictures of the ebrake box taken apart to clearly show my mounting locations, but your mounting may differ from mine. Main point is to get a spacer to stand the ebrake box off the rSeat rig so you have clearance to operate the handle.

Hope this helps. Be sure to help the blog out by clicking on the links within the side bars of this blog before you purchasing Fanatec products. It helps me out :) Thanks!

Have you seen the Bruno Spengler Interview? Check it out!
It's interesting to see he just uses the Logitech G27 when there are so many higher end wheels out there to use and he is still fast in the sim. Goes to show you it doesn't always take expensive equipment to be fast. Just takes practice and some talent.

Assetto Corsa Dream Pack Quick Look

Assetto Corsa Dream Pack Quick Look

Assetto Corsa new Dream Pack DLC is dreamy, but is plagued with slow load times and sporadic AI. The Ai is pretty good as long as your not stopping on the race line. As seen in the video you will see Ai sandwich me in on both sides of a turn and also stack up behind me when I blow my engine an I purposely stay on the race line.

Other times the Ai is offering up some really intense racing keeping pressure on me and just waiting for the opportunity to make a pass on me. It's like I said sporadic, but so is allot of sim racing games I play.

Assetto Corsa does offer up some beautiful graphics and interiors, plus the 10 new rides and a laser scan of Nurburgring in 3 layouts with the DLC which for me is worth the $10 Pre-Order alone. The new AC version 1.1 brings a slew of improvements (see below channel log ), but what is mostly noticeable for me is the improved physics especially noticed on the Nurburgring track, but I felt more (FF) force feed back on all the tracks I raced on. I could just tell what the car was doing better now making corrections easier to handle.

The in car sounds seems to be tweaked as well and they sound oh so better along with improved motion for my Track IR enabling me to pick a much more sane setting for camera rotation speed (3 from 7) all while allowing me to see more of my surrounding then ever before.

Also notable is the tire smoke. Who doesn't like allot of it. Well it looks great and doesn't seem to slow my GPU down at all. Did I mention Flags. Well seems you will see these pop up in the top left of the screen showing checkered, white, yellow and black. Nice addition that helps draw me into the race more.

Oh I almost forgot. The new weather changes. Select for a heavy fog, light fog, clear, mid clear, light clouds, heavy clouds. I think I got them all. Man this really adds some cool immersion to your race. The heavy fog is down right spooky on some tracks.

My only request now would be custom championship races and allot more programmable buttons for the slide out in game menu. I'm not a fan of the slide out so if I could map most these functions to my button box that would be great!

All in all Assetto Corsa Dream Pack 1 coupled with the Version 1.1 update is a huge step in the right directions. Improved physics, sound, Track IR, more cars, laser scanned Nurburgring and much more! It's a must have Sim for any car loving Sim Racer out there.
